How does someone become an artist on Cow Art and More?

Please contact gallery owner, Kathy Swift, through our customer service email, info@cowartandmore.com. She will contact you about submitting art samples and the details of becoming an artist on the site.

Why do some of the pieces have writing over their picture?

All of our artists copyright their work. To ensure their work is not downloaded from our website and used without their permission or without purchase, artists typically "watermark" their images with their name or studio name. This watermark will not be on the piece when it purchased.

I see many of the artists sell giclee prints. What is a giclee?

Giclee prints are a way of producing reproductions of an original piece of artwork. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. Giclee prints are created typically using professional 8-Color to 12-Color ink-jet printers. The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.

What is a lithograph?

A lithograph differs from a giclee in several ways. In this printing process, the printing surface is neither raised nor etched into the plate, but the printing and nonprinting areas exist on the same plane. The printing is effected by means of a chemical process that allows ink to adhere to only the parts of the surface to be reproduced. The process, which was developed in the late eighteenth century, depends on the fact that water and grease repel each other.
