Michael
Steinberg has been painting since the mid 1960’s. He
graduated from the University
of Florida with a degree
in Art, studying primarily under nationally renowned painters including Lenny
Kesl, the late Stuart Purser and Hiram Williams. In his college years, most work
was large scale figurative abstracts in acrylic. Today, Michael’s focus is on
painting animals, landscapes and still life in a painterly representational
style. He also enjoys painting close up views of cows emphasizing the unique
characteristics of the animal. Living on a 100 acre farm including wooded
hammocks and lush pastures in North Central Florida, there are plenty of
opportunities for a painter to find. Michael finds inspiration in all of this,
whether finding objects to include in a still life, a pasture with the bright
morning light; cows back lit by the setting sun or simmering in the last light
of the afternoon.
