Artist Commentary:

"This cow is more blue than purple, but it's still a bit on the fantasy side, I'd say.  One of my Daddy's favorite poems to quote when he was in a silly mood was "I never saw a purple cow, I never thought I'd see one. But I tell you this right now: I'd rather see one than be one." I'm not really sure if there's some really deep philosophical meaning in that poem - but I do know that it made a little girl giggle every time she heard it."
